This preset concerns the personal profile photo. The wide background image has a separate size.
A practical preparation workflow
Start with a current portrait and inspect the circle crop inside LinkedIn. Keep enough space around the head so that the profile interface does not clip hair or the chin. A simple backdrop is useful, but face reshaping is not part of this tool.
The preset opens a 400 × 400 pixel canvas. It uses Fit inside with white margins when the source has a different ratio. Crop the source first if you want to fill the frame without margins. Do not choose Stretch simply to force a photograph into a slot.
Check the file and the listing
Export a copy, then open the downloaded file before uploading it. Check the smallest meaningful details: printed labels, fine edges, facial features or material texture. Look for clipped corners and unexpected white or transparent areas. Keep the original alongside the export so you can make another version without repeatedly compressing the same pixels.
Next, inspect the image inside the actual listing interface. A source image can be valid while the site’s thumbnail crop cuts off something important. Review both the main image and the smaller preview. When a guide does not publish a file cap or exact dimension, this page leaves the field unknown. It does not turn our workspace preset into a platform requirement.
The instructions here cover the specific surface named above. Other ad products, regional marketplaces and mobile workflows may use different rules. Follow the linked official page and any requirement shown in your current uploader. Backdropless does not submit images, inspect your account or certify acceptance.
Questions that come up
Is the preset an official approval?
No. It sets a useful canvas based on the cited guidance. The platform still evaluates the image, product category and listing. Recommendations and hard limits are identified separately in the table.
Should I remove the background?
For this workflow, the preset resizes the original. Keep the actual subject and scene intact. A different shape is handled with margins rather than stretching.
What if the upload is still rejected?
Read the platform’s current error message. File type, file size, dimensions, category policy and account settings can each cause a rejection. A successful local export only verifies that the image file was created.
