A photo studio that stays with you.
Backdropless is a browser photo workbench made by a small independent team. It helps you separate a subject, prepare a file and understand the rules of its destination.
Useful work, close to the file
Everyday image tasks should have a clear beginning and end. You choose a photograph, make a specific edit and download a new copy. The product is designed around that small loop: a visible preview, controls that describe what they change and an export you can inspect in another application.
Image contents are processed on your device. Basic operations use the browser’s image engine. Background removal downloads an open-source model and runs inference locally. There is no account requirement for the current tools, no image upload endpoint and no analytics script collecting filenames.
Evidence instead of promises
A background mask is not automatically a finished photograph. Fine hair, thin structures and transparent objects are difficult cases. We show actual model outputs from licensed photographs, including an example where the glass interior remains opaque. Those examples are useful precisely because their limitations are visible.
Our format measurements use the same committed source images and record the browser, settings and resulting file sizes. They are not a claim that a format always wins or that matching quality-slider values mean matching visual quality. The source files and methods make the results easier to inspect and reproduce.
Guides with a defined scope
A product listing, social profile and passport application can all need an image while imposing very different rules. We link the publisher’s instructions and record when they were checked. A recommended dimension stays a recommendation. A tool preset stays an editable choice. Missing information is left unknown rather than filled with an attractive guess.
Government photo guides are framing references. They do not replace a required photographer, approved booth, certification or secure capture process. The tool does not alter facial features, make acceptance decisions or submit an application.

Help us keep it useful
If a source has changed or a tool behaves unexpectedly, send the page address and a short description to our contact address. You do not need to send a private photograph to report a problem. A clear description of the browser, operation and visible result is a good starting point.
